Hello!
I’m Fermí Vidal. Welcome to Noctàmbul Films.
As many of you’ve read, I was born in Catalonia in 1986. I grew up in Lloret de Mar, a colourful town from the Costa Brava. I’m sure many of you’ll be thinking: “how cool the Costa Brava! Sun, sea, sand”. Well, no. I don’t like the sun, nor the sand. But I love the sea.
In 2015 I moved to Cardiff, UK (yes, the wettest city in Britain). And well, here I am. Surrounded by the greenest grass you could ever imagine. But enough about me. I guess you’re here because you want to learn what’s behind my work, right?
So, get ready for a trip inside my mind. But I’ve to warn you, it can be a little chaotic.
Let’s get started.
Black is my favourite colour. I adore it. It boosts creativity, or at least it does for me. It’s like a blank sheet of paper (some people prefer the white blank paper thing, but I rather use a black one). If you look at my YouTube channel you’ll see a hint of black on everything. I mean, it goes with everything. Except with brown, that’s never a good match.
My inspiration comes from the work of Stanley Kubrick, Edgar Wright, Terry Gilliam and Alfonso Cuarón. You’ve to agree they’re geniuses - at least they’re for me. Some films that also inspired me are Arrival, The Shining, The Invitation, Coherence and The Lobster.
I’m a fan of horror movies, sci-fi and supernatural dramas.
About my visual style, you can tell it’s dark and full of contrasts. I like to play with shadows and silhouettes.
With my videos, I like to build moving stories so that whoever is watching, feels an emotion from them. Whether it’s surprise, sadness or doubt, I like the spectator to feel something when watching my videos, and if it opens a debate, the better it gets.
In 2012 I launched my YouTube channel, and today, Noctàmbul Films has over 60,000 followers. Something I would never have imagined when I first started this creative adventure.
This channel lets me explore my creativity and perfect my editing, scriptwriting and animator skills.
I hope you like my film style. Don’t forget that I specialise in video editing, animation and I also write scripts, and that sharing is caring. Who knows, maybe there’s a Golden Bear waiting for me in Berlin.
